This travel award is specifically designed for an individual who cannot receive funding from an employer to attend the AALAS National Meeting. The recipient will receive up to $2500.00 to cover expenses incurred while attending the meeting (registration fee, workshop fees, hotel, airfare, parking, shuttle/taxi service and other misc. costs).
You may nominate yourself or another branch member for this award. Nomination requirements are:
- Must be an active MNYBAALAS and National AALAS member in good standing who attended at a minimum of 3 general local meetings in the past calendar year.
- Must be willing to give a 5-10 minute presentation at a local meeting the following year (Feb, March, April, May, June) or write an article for the website/newsletter describing your experience at the National AALAS meeting. Coordination and confirmation of this presentation/article must be sent via email to metroawardscommittee@gmail.com.
- Must attend the National AALAS meeting during the year of the application. The Metro Expense Report, itemizing the award money, must be submitted to the branch treasurer within two weeks of the close of the National AALAS meeting.
- For any reason, if the award winner does not attend the National AALAS Meeting as specified, the award money must be returned in its entirety to the Branch Treasurer by the end of the calendar year.
For consideration of the Quip Labs AALAS Meeting Travel award, forward the following information:
- Include in your nomination packet: AALAS Status, any certifications, dates of local meeting attendance, the signed Application, and explanation of why you want to attend the meeting.
- Include a letter from employer / supervisor why they are NOT able to fund travel expenses for the meeting AND a statement from employer / supervisor that the candidate has permission to attend the meeting.
