• This award is open to any veterinarian employed at an institution that is a member of MNYBAALAS.
• Is an Active member of MNYBAALAS.
This award is presented to an outstanding member of MNYBAALAS who has remained a member of MNYBAALAS for 25 consecutive years and at least 5 of those years served on a metro committee or as an officer / council member.
Award focuses on recognizing contributions in education and training, including:
• The development of effective materials for instruction and the ability to engage and inspire independent and critical thinking among trainees
• The establishment of workshops, conferences, or networks of communication for education and training such as lectures and seminars.
• Achievement and leadership in administration that facilitates education and training
• Activity in professional organizations that promote excellence.
• Demonstrated outstanding performance, embodies professionalism, dedication, enthusiasm and vitality in learning and teaching
• and service expertise as a vendor representative in the field of lab animal science.
Award Eligibility
• Is an Active member of MNYBAALAS.
• Must have at least four years of laboratory animal training and education experience, with training and education as a major part of the job responsibility.
• Minimum Registered LAT certification (LATg preferred) and/or other advanced educational credentials.
• Training and Educational mentoring related activities should involve working with students, interns, residents, facility staff and investigative staff.
• Strongly encourage that at a minimum of one of the training and education activities conducted are at MNYBAALAS events, or equivalent educational seminars / workshops/ lectures.
• Strongly encourage training and educational outreach in the form of career fairs, writing articles, poster presentation, professional publications, participation on a MNYBAALAS committee (i.e public outreach committee) or as a MNYBAALAS officer/council member.
• Strongly encourage participation in certification training development such as proctoring, question development, or program training development.
Presented to a management level or technical level individual
Award focuses on recognizing contributions during an emergency:
The individual has effectively prepared for and/or responded to the emergency by:
• Integrating their emergency-related resources, services, and tools among their staff or with coworkers
• Enhanced disaster preparedness through education and training
• Developed solutions and mechanisms that support the continuity of their emergency response.
• Encouraged collaboration between departments, staff, and our outsides facility support services that enhances coordination
• Outstanding continuous leadership in carrying out their facility emergency response plan.
• Has shown Unique skill or creative imagination to the approach or solution of problems, or noteworthy technical and professional contributions in response to the emergency
In addition, the award focuses on recognizing contributions in the day-to-day operations of their workplace by:
• Making an outstanding contribution towards advancement in animal wellbeing in their institutions.
• Their leadership inspires others to embrace the health and wellness of the animals and initiates the advancement of achieving organizations health and well-being goals.
• Successfully facilities ideas into and actionable plans/programs that have made a different at their organization and have produced measurable animal health improvements.
